The Community

About us | Group Options

We are people who are serious about making our dreams come true.  We are over letting life pass us by.   Some of us have always been pretty successful, and some of us are survivors.  Some of us are young, and just getting started.  Some of us are working on getting the demands of life in balance. Some of us are recovering after serious mistakes.  Some are browned off (if not burned out) and recovering.   All of us are building a positive, peaceful and pro-active spirituality.

We have found friends who stand with us while we achieve the things that life demands of us.  One business couple summed it up nicely:  "We feel like we belong here.  It's as if someone said 'if you want me - you'll have to fight the rest of them first'".

We all take a different approach to making a difference in the world.  For example, in terms of poverty - some of us engage in professional community development, some send money to charities, some support direct political activism.   Whatever it is - we encourage one another.  God has prepared a "life of good works " for all of us.  We have to set out feet to the beat of that drum - and make sure that we support our friends - even if they are following a different beat.

Oasis is not a local church based on a suburb.    It is a community made up of people with similar values.   We tend to be self starting, entrepreneurial people who like to be responsible for ourselves and get a job done.    Some of us are high achievers.  All of us are wannabe high achievers.  We are looking for a spirituality that balances our relationships, ambitions and  recreation and keeps it all focused on Jesus.

There are musical, artisitc, thepsianic (is that a word?) people.  There are people who live all over Queensland who connect with us even though they will rarely be seen at worship.  There are people who don't fit the conventional mold as "Christians", but are genuinely passionate about the Kingdom of God.

There are few church programs.  Most of us are flat out making our own little piece of the Kingdom work.   (top)
